This image depicts the visualization supplementing an article in a newspaper. The main audience is a mid to low-level basketball fan because it presents clear and accurate statistical information while also giving the viewer an overall sense of what happened during the game. A secondary audience includes high-level fans of basketball. These individuals are able to look deeper and extract particular statistics of interest.
In an effort to fuse my two passions, basketball and design, I sought to create a better way to visualize post game basketball statistics.
I began by designing a print visualization intended to supplement
an article in a newspaper.
I subsequently created an interactive version using
the Processing
programming language that can read a post-game
box score and generate a visualization of the entire game.
